Brooklyn, NY based Mom of a pre-teen and 2 year old twins (b/g) born on Valentines Day, and a baby boy born last January. Retired from 20 years in the music biz (booking agent, tour manager, expeditor to the indolent, personal assistant, & professional babysitter of adults), and doing the Mom thing again. Tattooed, left of center thinking Mom in an increasingly conservative Brooklyn. I have an amazing husband (8 years younger) who drives ships and sings rockabilly in the shower. He is an amazing father. My kids are really, really cute and do really cute things all day long. And my pre-teen is in the chaos of middle school/hormone land godhelpher. She is amazing and beautiful and sang at my wedding bringing the house down and boy do I have it commin’! I am in my late 30’s and I never would have thought I would have four (4!!) kids. Its total chaos but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Here are twelve facts about me:
1. I have vintage car & motorcycle lust.
2. My favorite foods are peach pancakes and cold, lemony beer. I always order a cheese plate at a restaurant if they have one.
3. Motomama was a nickname I got on the road traveling with a band once, my other nickname was “Captain Friendly” (not because I was) but that isn’t as good of a name for a blog.
4. I live in a vegetarian house (yup, babies too).
5. I grew up in New Jersey and then lived in Germany from ages 5 – 9 as a military brat. I failed German in high school, but I can speak it allright if ive had a few.
6. I am an excellent driver of all things with wheels.
7. I hate people who have a sense of entitlement.
8. I am most proud of myself for doing what was right for my daughter, and for never compromising myself.
9. My pretend celebrity boyfriend is Steve McQueen or Clint Eastwood (the dirty harry years), or maybe Jeff Bridges.
10. My favorite things to do is to kiss my kids and make them laugh, be with my husband & ride motorcycles and waves even if only in my dreams.
11. I think I am lucky.
12. I am fascinated with: outdated office equipment, Australia (and things Australian), how people cook using more than two steps, and why we are not as pissed off as we should be.

  1. Tom (your adoring husband) Says:

You are sooooo beautiful, and are an amazing mom. I love you. XOXOXO

  2. Hi.

I’m the author of the poem you received–the one posted on The Writer’s Almanac on the day your son was born. Congratulations.

That day was also my birthday, Jan 11, a coincidence (in terms of Keillor’s post). That fact seemed worth sharing.

    Best,
    Alan Michael Parker
